Instructions
- Prepare Pan:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8-inch (20x20 cm) baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.
- Add Cherries:
- Arrange the pitted cherries evenly over the bottom of the prepared pan.
- Mix Dry Ingredients:
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and salt.
- Add Wet Ingredients:
- Add eggs and whisk until smooth and slightly pale. Gradually whisk in milk, heavy cream, vanilla extract, almond extract (if using), and melted butter until fully combined and smooth.
- Combine Batter & Fruit:
- Pour the batter gently over the cherries in the pan.
- Add Topping:
- Sprinkle sliced almonds over the top, if desired.
- Bake:
- Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the custard is set and the edges are golden. A toothpick inserted in the center should come out clean.
- Cool & Slice:
- Cool completely in the pan, then lift out using the parchment overhang. Cut into 12 bars.
- Finish:
